For those living on the East Coast of Canada and the US, the Fall season is glorious in colour at this time of the year. Living on the West Coast, while the Fall changing of colours is a beautiful sight to behold, I admit to missing the red colours and the Maple trees and shrubs of the East Coast where I grew up.
When I saw these two in a friend’s yard yesterday, I couldn’t resist taking this photo. For me, it was TRIPLE “M” time: Magic! Memories! Marvellous! What a treat!
In the midst of deep concerns for the people of Jamaica as they face the worst hurricane they’ve ever encountered … in the midst of growing angst, concern and fear for the future of democracy in a growing number of places around the world … in the realization that bodies continue to age and medical services/supplies/medications are becoming harder to access and afford, Mother Nature offers TRIPLE M” moments of magic and memories that are marvellous!
Breathe – inhale the beauty wherever and whenever you can … if only for a moment.
In that moment, the body, mind and spirit are engaged and experience calm, peace, hope.
Magic! Memories! Marvellous!

Thanks for this wonderful reflection, June 🥰 it was missing the seasons that sent me back to Toronto and then to my farm in Mount Forest after several years in the lower Island in the early- to mid-1970s. But that was when I was still in my esrly 30s. At 80, I realise that I’m no longer up to man handling a snow shovel or snow blower for several months of the year.
Surrounded by Douglas Fir and Garry Oak, I get my colour in the brilliant red berries of the few Arbutus trees here. I wonder if birds get drunk on them as the Cedar Waxwings did on Mountain Ash berries in Ontario 😄
Blessings
Brian
Thanks for writing and for you encouragement, Brian. Delighted you get your colour in the property around you. You pond is a memory-source of gentleness and peace – especially when wildlife visits it. 🙂
Thanks, June. I have created a native plant/wildflower meadow over the septic bed this Fall. It will be nice when the plants have taken root and the flowers come up next Spring. The deer were spooked by the yellow tapes on the electric fence and disappeared for a few days but have returned. The usual 2 to 3 dozen Mallards are on the pond, with one random Black Duck that showed up a few weeks ago. Its bright white chest stands out. Perhaps a dozen ravens live in the Douglas Fir trees and they let me know they are watching me whenever I step outside! It’s a little slice of paradise.
