Grief.
It appears unexpectedly.
… wears different costumes.
… sometimes puts a smile on our face.
… often brings sadness to our heart.
… is not predictable either in timing or outcome.
Today and the coming days, weeks and months,
as a result of the election in the United States,
grief is being and will be felt
in the United States – and beyond.
We need to acknowledge its presence,
give it its space.
As the ebb and flow of grief finds its way into your life
may a gentle warm shaft of healing light
wing your way,
encouraging you to remember
… “You are stronger than you think you are.”
And in the meantime,
remember to breathe,
and remember to be gentle
and kind to yourself.

A beautiful poem about the world’s current greatest nightmare!
After almost ten years, something will ‘pop up’ (a photo, a song, an expression, etc.) and in seconds, tears spill out of my eyes. 99% of the time, I’m fine and ‘whole’ but sometimes, when I am not prepared, there it comes! I acknowledge it and allow myself that brief moment of missing my wonderful man, then keep on moving forward, for that is my only choice.
Thanks for this. I am constantly thinking of light and love these days. It is definitely scary when one looks at the people DJT is appointing to all the really powerful positions. How on earth could a woman work for him?
How I wish I had the answer to your question, Cherie. I don’t know how anyone with integrity can. Difficult year ahead for so many but resilience, faith, hope and “being light” to the small communities around us will hopefully spread and sustain.
Thank you, June, for this. It helps.
Gratitude for learning it helps, Sally. May the grief you experience lift with grace and healing.
